About

Why this project exists.

The United States Congress has watched, largely in silence, as the executive branch has exploited legal grey areas to consolidate power in ways the founders never intended. Career civil servants fired overnight. Unconfirmed loyalists running federal agencies for months. Congressionally appropriated funds held hostage. Wars started without a vote.

None of this is new. But the pace has accelerated, and the silence from candidates who want your vote has become deafening.

The Repair Pledge is a nonpartisan accountability project with a simple premise: before you ask for someone's vote, you should be willing to go on record about whether you'll do anything with it.

We identified 12 specific legal loopholes — the Dirty Dozen — that enable executive overreach. Each one has a known fix. Each fix requires legislation. Legislation requires Congress.

So we asked. Every FEC-registered 2026 House candidate. Publicly, on the record, with a direct link to the pledge document. Their answer, or their silence, is tracked here for every voter to see.

This isn't a partisan project. These loopholes have been exploited across administrations and will be exploited again. Closing them is a structural problem that requires structural solutions, regardless of who is in the White House.

We're a small grassroots project. No funding. No staff. Just code, conviction, and a very long list of Twitter handles.
